ICE PICK MURDERER
SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS

Henry Rodgers of Bonne Terre, was tried by jury in circuit court at Farmington this week, charged with the murder of Earl Jinkerson last June 7th. The jury returned a verdict of murder in the second degree assessing his punishment at twenty-five years in the state penitentiary.

Rodgers, an ex-convict, stabbed Jinkerson with an ice pick on Friday evening, June 7th, the result of a quarrel between the Jinkerson and Rodgers families which had continued for three days prior to the killing. Jinkerson was fatally injured and died before reaching the Bonne Terre Hospital, where he was immediately taken.

The state was represented by Prosecuting Attorney Mathews, assistant prosecuting attorney Wilkson and Harry O. Smith; and the defense by lawyer Raymond S. Roberts.

The only other criminal case to be tried this week was the case of William Hooss, Raymond Hooss and Gus Orrick, who were acquited on a charge of stealing chickens in the nighttime.
