(Circa 1908)

On June 15, 1905, a body of Missionary Baptists, who were dismissed from the Flat River church in order that they might form a church in Elvins, met at Heaton's Hall and organized the Baptist Church of Elvins. Rev. H. F. Aulick, then pastor of the Flat River Church, was the first Moderator for the congregation.

Only four of the charter members are still living in Elvins. They are W. E. London, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Clemens and Mrs. Charles McCrory.

Their church was constructed in 1906 at a cost of $5,000, and since that time there have been 4 additions, making the present structure worth $17,000.

Present membership is shown at 700--the church has a seating capacity of 600 and during April of this year the Sunday School attendance average 505.

Following Rev. H. F. Aulick, Lee Graham was chosen as Moderator, to be followed by Rev. R. F. Carroll. Wm. Latimer was selected as moderator next. The following pastors have served since that time: Revs. M. S. Humphrey, T. M. Estes, W. H. Haggerman, A. H. Dace, M. T. Webb, A. M. Crain, C. T. Lawson, E. D. Owen, Charles Warren, W. R. McEwen, Roy Reynolds, and the present pastor, Rev. Wade Freeman.
