IWO JIMA MARINE

Paul E. Crepps was killed in action on Feb. 28, 1945 during the battle of Iwo Jima.

Mr. Crepps was a member of the 23rd Marines of the 4th Marine Division.  He was the son of the late Lloyd Crepps and Elizabeth N. Crepps of Esther.

He had entered the service in May of 1944 and was 19 years old when he was killed in the invasion of the island.

Crepps graduated from Esther high School in 1944.  He was a member of the Esther Baptist Church.  He left the week after his graduation for Marine training.  He returned home only once and that was in October.

His mother, Elizabeth, lives in Park Hills.
