Edward H. Franke, Jr. served as a Staff Sgt. in the Infantry 36th Division 141st Reg. 3rd Battalion.

"I am sending some old photos from my Army days," Franke writes.  " I first went to Oran, N. Africa and did some mopping up there.  Then to Italy, where I was wounded by German machine gun fire in the right leg and hips and left elbow.

"I was in the 23rd General Hospital for many months with many operations.   I was sent back to the USA finally and put in hospitals here.  I was in the Army for three years and four months."
