Lee (L.V.) Darnell, deceased, was in the 7th Army Quartermaster outfit during World War II, serving in France and Germany.

 "Lee entered the service in 1943.  He served in the U.S. Army, went into France on D+5 and was in Germany at the end of the war," according to Ralph Darnell. 

Lee was killed in the truck-train accident in 1949 in DeLassus.

Additional Information:  Lee Darnell was the father of David Darnell, local author and well-known historian in St. Francois County.     According to obituary of Lee Darnell which was published in the Lead Belt News, Lee Darnell was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre of Operations ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.
