MINER IS FOUND SUFFOCATED UNDERGROUND AFTER SHOTS ARE FIRED

Amiel Hamon, of Leadwood, thirty years old and an underground worker, was found dead Wednesday afternoon soon after the day shift came off duty. The coronor's inquest gave decision of death from suffocation and the supposition is that it was brought about from the powder fumes. He and John Royal had been on shift together and just before quitting time Hamon went back to fire the holes. When he did not return at the proper time the men went on a hunt for him and found him in an unconscious condition. The shots had been fired but he was some little distance from the blasts and the examination pointed toward death from suffocation.

The unfortunate man is survived by a wife and four small children. Mr. Hamon's parents live at Vallemines and he has been working at Leadwood about two years.

The burial will be made Friday, July 3rd, at Germany church.

MINER KILLED AT MITCHELL

Henry Haman, a miner at Mitchell shaft, was found dead after work hours Wednesday afternoon, July 1. He was working day shift and near time to close he separated from his partners to watch a hole set to fire. After 3 o'clock they went to hunt him and found him dead, presumably caused by poisonous gases. The funeral was held Friday afternoon and the remains buried in Germany Cemetery.

He leaves a wife and four children of Mitchell, his parents at Valles Mines, and other relatives.

He was a member of the A.O.U.W. lodge.
