YOUNG MINER KILLED BY FALLING ROCK AT NO. 4 SHAFT, FRIDAY

 David McWorthy, Aged 23, Was Victim.   Had Been Employed at This Mine Since Last January.  Was Steady Worker and Exemplary Young Man.

     David Ray McWorthy, aged 23 years, a miner employed by the St. Joseph Lead Company at Shaft No. 4, was instantly killed Friday of last week, when a large slab of rock fell on him from the roof or "back" of the mine.  The remains were removed to Jos. Diemer's undertaking rooms at Elvins, where an inquest was conducted by Coroner C. J. Hill.

    Young McWorthy had been employed at this mine since last January.  He was a steady worker and an exemplary young man.  He made his home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McWorthy of Esther.

    The funeral services was conducted at the Esther Baptist Church Sunday.  Interment was made at Parkview Cemetery.
