FLAT RIVER MAN ON RETIRED LIST

Elzie Sherrill of 420 Crane Street, Flat River, was retired on August 1 by St. Joseph Lead Company. He was born in Hogan, Iron County, Mo., but has been a Lead Belt resident the past 20 years. In 1916 he was married to Clara Odessa Swaringim.

He worked since 1930 for St. Joe, in the mining Department, as loader, laborer, trackman, operating driller and car-cleaner. He never had a lost time accident and is holder of the Joseph Holmes Award for 20 years' service without a lost time accident.

Mr. and Mrs. Sherrill are parents of six sons and three daughters: Virginia (Mrs. Leslie Reed) lives in Doe Run; Lloyd and LeRoy Sherrill are residents of Arnold, Mo.; Arlene (Mrs. Louis Pratt) lives in Poplar Bluff, Mo.; Leo Sherrill lives in Chattanooga, Tenn.; Homer and Bill Sherman are St. Louis residents; Harold makes his home in Flat River; Mary (Mrs. Lee Bennett) is a resident of Pilot Knob.

Mr. Sherrill belongs to the United Baptist Church in Doe Run, and plans to continue in church work. He has been an ordained minister in that church the past 23 years. He enjoys gardening as a hobby.
