MINER INSTANTLY KILLED
AT FEDERAL SHAFT 12, TUESDAY

F. M. Tomlinson, 54, who had lived at Rivermines, and been employed as a track-repairer, underground at Number Twelve Federal was instantly killed, Tuesday morning, shortly before eleven o'clock, when a quanitity of lose back fell on him. His skull was crushed, in the back, but he was not otherwise mutilated.

The remains were taken to the Diemer Undertaking Rooms in Elvins where Coroner Prather held an inquest, Tuesday afternoon. It was testified at the inquest that a section of rock, 12 feet long, 6 feet wide and 2 inches thick, had fallen on him, he having, evidently been in a stooping position at the time. The comparative thinness of the section of rock, probably account for the fact that he was not mutilated.

The unfortunate man was the father of Irvin Thomlinson, 19 years old, who was run over by a passenger train, Monday of last week at the Elvins depot, and injured to the extent that it was necessary to take him to the hospital, and have his right arm amputated near the shoulder.

The funeral service for Mr. Thomlinson was held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, after which he was taken to the K. of P. Cemetery for interment. He leaves a wife and five children, three sons and two daughters.

[Note:  I'm not sure about the spelling of his last name.  As you can see, the above article has it spelled two different ways.  Also, I checked and can't find neither of these names on the listing for K. of P. Cemetery  in Park Hills.  I do find the name Thomasson there, but no F. M. Thomasson.]
