MAN KILLED IN ST. JOE LEADWOOD PLANT
--------

Harvey O. (Jack) Pyatt (sic Pyeatt), a 27 year old employee of the St. Joe Lead Company and a citizen of Leadwood was fatally injured early Saturday morning when he accidently came in contact with a high tension wire carrying a voltage of 6,600.  Pyatt (sic) and another workmen were moving a transformer at the time of the accident.  He asked the nearby workmen to walk him after he came in contact with the wire but he collapsed after taking only a few steps.  He was put into an iron lung in hopes that it would revive him, but all attempts proved futile.

The deceased is survived by his wife and parents.

Inquest was made at the Sparks funeral home.   Funeral rites were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the First Church of God in Leadwood by the Rev. Claude Carl.  Interment was made in the [St. Francois] Memorial Park Cemetery.

Note:  The listing for St. Francois Memorial Park Cemetery has his date of death as July 5, 1948, however, article indicates he died early "Saturday" morning which would be July 3, 1948, since July 5th fell on a Monday in 1948.  Cemetery listing also indicates that he was born in 1921, and that he was husband of Winnifred (Smith), and son of Irvin Pyeatt.   Irvin Pyeatt was son of Michael & Rosetta (Thurman) Pyeatt.
