MINER KILLED AT BONNE TERRE

James Holdman, aged 50 years, died at the Bonne Terre Hospital last Thursday night as the result of injuries he sustained when he was caught between two underground cars at the St. Joseph Lead Company mines at Bonne Terre Thursday morning.

It is usually the custom when a fatal accident occurs at this mine for the men to discontinue work for the next shift.  This time, however, all the men continued work and gave their wages for the shift, which amounted to $1541.70, to the widow of their unfortunate comrade.

Mr. Holdman was married and was survived by his wife and three children.  He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Knights of Pythias and Yeomen lodges.  He was one of Bonne Terre's most highly respected citizens.  The funeral service was conducted Saturday at Primrose Church by Rev. Ferguson.
