ACCIDENT INJURIES FATAL TO ROBERT LEE CAMPBELL, JR.
[Lead Belt News, Flat River, MO, Fri., Oct. 11, 1957] 

     Robert Lee Campbell, Jr., of 301 East Main Street, Flat River, died in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Sunday, October 6, 1957, of injuries received in an accident at Pim Mine South of St. Joseph Lead Company, Wednesday evening, October 2nd.

     The accident, which proved fatal to Campbell, occurred on Wednesday evening, October 2nd, shortly after seven o'clock.   Campbell was working with Willard DeClue of Elvins at the mine when they were caught by a fall of loose rock from the roof.  DeClue received a dislocated hip and lacerations of face and scalp, but is reported recovering.

     A son of Robert Lee Campbell and Dora Elizabeth Aberle Campbell, he was born in Bonne Terre, on June 1, 1910, and at the time of death was aged 47 years, 4 months, 5 days.  He was married February 16, 1935 to Ruth Pope who survives with three children: Virginia (Mrs. LeRoy) Graf, Flat River, Robert Lynn and Marilyn Ruth, of the home.  He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Robert Lee Campbell, Sr. and a brother, Ralph Campbell, both of Flat River, besides other relatives and friends.

     Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, October 9, 1957, at the First Baptist Church in Flat River, conducted by the Rev. Virgil Vaughn, pastor.  Interment was in the old Bonne Terre Cemetery.   Hood Service.
