ELVINS CITY MARSHAL ARRESTED MONDAY --
Is Jointly Charged With Bill Phillips With
Dispensing Booze at Livery Stable
Conducted by Ollie Bequette.
Charge Against He and Phillips Filed in Circuit Court.

City Marshal Leslie Black of Elvins and Bill Phillips were arrested by Deputy-Sheriff Mitchell Monday. The warrant charges them with illegal sale and the information against them was filed by Prosecuting Attorney Mathews. Mr. Mathews stated to a News reporter Tuesday that he has sufficient evidence against both men to warrant a conviction. The criminal docket is so crowded as the result of the riot cases, the trial of these men will not be held until the February term. Both men gave bond in the sum of $500 for their appearance.

It is alleged that the whiskey which these men are charged with selling was kept in a grip at the livery stable. The thirsty ones were tipped off to go to the grip, take what they wanted and deposit the money in the grip.
