On the strength of an injunction issued by Judge Huck, Sheriff Hunt yesterday closed the establishment known as the Vallo place in East Bonne Terre, placing locks on the building which must remain in place for one year from that time. This action is taken under the enforcement laws which declare a place repeatedly guilty of violation of the liquor laws to be a public nuisance.
Only recently Vallo has been arrested twice for violation of the prohibition law and on both occasions substantial evidence of guilt was obtained in the form of liquor. Both raids were participated in by Constable Sam Doss, the last one having been but a few weeks since when Doss, accompanied by Constable Turley and Deputy Blaylock, caught Vallo red handed by sending agents in for the purchase of liquor, following the purchase by a raid which produced more liquor as well as marked money with which the agents had purchased their supply.
This is the first time in many years that the place referred to has been raided by any officers and all of those concerned in the raiding and closing of it are deserving of praise and support from the law abiding element of our people.
