BARTON FAMILY REUNION HELD HERE SUNDAY

A family reunion was held at the home of Mrs. Grace Barton, 302 E. Main Street, Sunday, Aug. 25. All of her children, eight sons and four daughters were together for the first time in several years. The father, Rev. E. L. Barton, passed away on April 5, 1939. The children are: Omer and Tom of Elvins; Opel of Farina, Ill.; Tillman, Jesse, Glenn and Lindell of Flat River; Paul of Desloge; Lorene (Mrs. Robert Mayberry) and Mamie (Mrs. Virgil Murray [Murry]) of Flat River; Reva (Mrs. Jesse Scott) of St. Louis and Essie (Mrs. Paul McNew) of Desloge.

A bountiful dinner was served at noon with 53 guests present. Everyone had a very enjoyable time. Those present for the occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Williams; Randal Stricklin; Mr. and Mrs. Omer Barton and children, Gary and Paul; Rev. and Mrs. Tom Barton and children, Carson, Carolyn and Marilyn of Elvins; Alva Owens of Edgewood, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Opel Barton and children, Helen and Ilene of Farina, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Lee; Miss Sue Berthe; Mr. and Mrs. Tilman Barton and children, Lou Vetta, Leroy, Sharon, Karon and J. L.; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Barton and children, Jay and Judy; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Murray and children, Nancy Sue and Janet; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mayberry and children, Shirley and Bobby, Glenn and Lindell Barton, all of Flat River; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Scott of St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Paul McNew and children, Myrna, Linda and C. E.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Barton and children, Berlin and Gloria, and Mrs. Laura McNew, all of Desloge. It was a very happy occasion for everyone present and they hope to be together again.
