The Lead Belt News, Flat River, Mo., Fri., July 2, 1943

Miss Betty Gidley, daughter of Mrs. Stephen Gidley of Bonne Terre and Woodrow Hill, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Hill, Sr., also of Bonne Terre, were united in marriage in the parlors of St. Joseph's Church in Bonne Terre at six o'clock, Saturday evening, June 26th.  The Rev. G. W. Brinkmann officiated.

The wedding gown of white moliene was designed on princess lines, with vertical bands of chantilly lace shirred to a wide fitted waist.  The tapering princess skirt flowed gracefully into a long train.  The long sleeves ended in a point at the wrist and the finger-tip modesty veil, banded in lace to match the gown, held in place the pearl studded princess halo.  The bride wore a triple strand of matched pearls belonging to her mother and carried a colonial bouquet of twelve gardenias clustered about two purple orchids.

Her sisters, Miss Wininfred and Miss Stephanie Gidley were bridesmaids.  Miss Stephanie wore a floor length dress of gold colored taffeta and corsage of tea roses and blue delphinium while her sister wore a dress of pale pink taffeta, floor length with a corsage of pale pink roses and blue delphinium.  Each wore shoulder length veil in colors matching their gowns.  Pvt. Joseph L. Bryar of Jefferson Barracks was best man for Mr. Hill and Girard Gidley, brother of the bride, was groomsman.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's mother, where the rooms were decorated with white lilies and white and red roses with lighted tapers on the mantel and table.  The three tier wedding cake centered the table in the dining room.

The bride attended St. Joseph's Parochial School and graduated from Bonne Terre High School in 1938, and also attended Fontbonne College in St. Louis.  The past 18 months she has held a position as assistant planner in the office of Curtiss-Wright in St. Louis, resigning a short time before her marriage.

Mr. Hill is a graduate of Bonne Terre High School, class of 1937 and is employed as supervisor of training defense workers at the Busch-Sulzer Diesel Engineering Company in St. Louis.  They will reside in St. Louis.

Out of town guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Vurlin Ward and family, Mrs. E. L. Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Girard Vogt and son, Charles, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Webster and Miss Celeste Sale of St. Louis and Mrs. Adolph Schaetzle of Crystal City.
