JOEL WILLIAMS

Joel Williams of Gofftown, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 24, following a stroke of paralysis he had suffered a week before. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Flat River Free Will Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. James Miller and interment was in Woodlawn cemetery under the direction of Caldwell Undertaking Company.

Joel Williams was born in Tennessee on January 26, 1859 and passed away July 24, 1935, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 28 days. On August 13, 1884, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Ann Tucker, who survives. To this union were born seven children, two of whom preceded the father in death. Those surviving are: Mrs. Emma Ham [sic Horn] of Flat River; John of Leadington; George of Gofftown; Lee of Flat River; and Harold of St. Louis. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Williams had been a faithful member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Flat River for many years. The News extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

MARY WILLIAMS RATLEY

Mary Tucker Williams Ratley was born on July 5, 1865, and passed away on December 12, 1946 aged 83 years 5 months 7 days.

She was united in marriage to Joel Williams, on August 13, 1884, and to this union were born seven children, two of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Williams is also deceased. A daughter, Mrs. Emma Horn of Farmington and four sons, John, George and Lee of Flat River and Harold of Portland, Ore., survive. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

On April 21, 1938, she was married to John J. Ratley, who survives her. She was a faithful member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Flat River, where funeral services were conducted Saturday by Rev. F. C. Zinn. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Caldwell Service.
