A SECOND SONG ABOUT FLAT RIVER

Ferlin Huskey

Few, if any, cities have two recorded songs written about them as Flat River has.

Some twenty years ago, Dorothy Shay recorded a song about Flat River and now Ferlin Huskey has recently recorded a new song entitled "Flat River, Missouri."

Ferlin was raised in this area and considered one of us and his song is one of the better country-western type songs. Country-western recordings are the largest selling of all types of records on the market today.

The Student Council of R-III Central School has initiated a project of having all students write to radio stations all over the U.S. requesting this song be played on their birthday.

The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors joins the students in this project and asks that everyone write to their favorite radio station requesting Ferlin Huskey's recording of "Flat River, Missouri" be played.

This will serve two purposes in giving national recognition to our city and to one of our former citizens.

In order for everyone to hear this recording, radio station KFMO will play this song daily at the following times: 7:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.

It is hoped that we will have over 1,000 letters going to radio stations all over the U.S., not only from citizens of this area, but that our citizens will write to former citizens asking that they will contact their local radio station to play "Flat River, Missouri."
