CROWN LOAN COMPANY HELD UP The Crown Loan Corporation with offices in the Crown building, Flat River, was held up and robbed of $412.00 Tuesday afternoon by James Koonce of Flat River, who was later arrested and lodged in jail. Miss Jean Bequette was working alone at the cashier's window when Koonce entered about 5: 20 p.m., pointed a gun at her and demanded the money. He took the currency and left the building, creating no disturbance. Gerald C. Politte, manager and Emer Buxton, assistant manager, who were working in an adjoining room, were immediately notified and reported the theft. Deputy Sheriff Heck, Constable Mullins and former Trooper Richmond arrested Koonce at seven o'clock in Farmington. He waived his preliminary and was bound over to Circuit Court, charged with first degree robbery. Koonce, alias Perrier, is 28 years of age and has a criminal record, having served a term in the state penitentiary for robbing the Three Flowers Ice Cream Store in Flat River several years ago. He is also reported an army deserter. |
