WOMAN THIEF HAS CAVE IN MOUNTAINSMay Broadwell, a notorious character of the Lead Belt passing under several aliases, was arrested this week by Sam Doss of Desloge and Constable Ditch of Flat River and securely stowed away in jail for six months. She, operating with other women of the same character who were not quite so bold, were maintaining a rendezvous in an old shack and cave a short distance from Elvins. It seems that their moral obliqueness had not attracted much attention from citizens until they began a system of thievery and petty larceny when the two sleuths were put on their trail. Ed Cain was caught with the Broadwell woman and for his association in the outlawry got the same as the woman which was a fine of $50 and six months in jail.
