FORMER JUDGE FRANK GROOM DIED THURSDAY

     Former Judge of the St. Francois County Court, Frank C. Groom of Leadington, passed away early Thursday morning, March 29, 1956, in Bonne Terre Hospital, following an illness of pneumonia and complications. He was 73 years 6 months 3 days of age.

     A son of the late George and Molly Hulsey Groom, he was born in Hulsey, Mo., September 26, 1882. He was married on November 11, 1911 to Miss Edna May Fuller, who survives with two daughters, Mildred (Mrs. Morris) Allen of St. Clair, Mo., and Miss Iola Groom of Cape Girardeau; also a grandson, Terry Wayne Allen of St. Clair. A son, Frank Harold, died in infancy. He also leaves a brother, E. C. Groom of St. Louis; two sisters, Lola (Mrs. Luther) Mayberry of Flat River and Mrs. Gertrude Wasson of St. Louis, besides nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

     The family lived in Potosi where Mr. Groom was serving a Mayor at the time they moved to this community in 1924. He owned and operated a grocery store in Flat River until 1935, and a store in Leadington from 1946 to 1952. He was elected Associate Judge of the County Court of three terms and served from 1938 to 1942, and from 1952 to 1954.

     The body is in state at the Hood Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Satrurday, March 31st, at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Eunice Edwards, pastor of the Leadington Free Will Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. J. C. McDaniel, pastor of Elvins Methodist Church. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
