Beginning in 1897 the Christian Church carried on missionary work, but the congregation was formally organized in 1901. Services were held in the Higgins and Buckley Halls until 1905, when the site of the present building was purchased and a church built.
The membership grew and prospered. Then in 1917 about 40 families moved to Detroit, Mich., from this congregation. Three years later fire destroyed the church building. But adversity only caused these people to work harder and they at once started rebuilding. The new structure, which was dedicated free of debt in 1928, is the congregation's present home. The membership is about 300, the pastor Rev. David DeBoer.
