(St. Francois County Herald, July 30, 1902) The report that Bill Dooley had also fallen victim to the Harris-Dooley feud, being killed at Loughboro by Frank Harris, brother of Bill Harris, recently shot and killed at Rock Spring, by Bill Dooley is erroneous. Dooley is still at large, and, although he is said to have been seen in the neighborhood of his home since the murder, no attempt seems to have been made to arrest him. Bill Dooley is reputed to be an expert marksman with a pistol and winchester. It is said that on horseback he can ride at a gallop and place within a circle the size of a silver dollar five shots out of five with a pistol, and that he can throw up a baseball and shoot a hole through it with a winchester.--Potosi Journal. [Note by Herald:] The report is very much
exaggerated. Dooley is probably above the average in the way of marksmanship, but we
have never heard of his ability to do what the Journal says. |
