FRANK HARRIS DEAD.

      Frank Harris, one of the participants in the notorious Harris-Dooley battle, which occurred at Doe Run several years ago, died at the home of his brother, Jim [James] Harris, on the Porter farm, South of Elvins, last Saturday of tuberculosis, aged 31 years. Harris, it will be remembered, served a term in the penitentiary for shooting a man by the name of Stout at Iron Mountain a few years ago. Harris was sentenced for five years, but was let out on two-thirds time. It was while in prison that the disease which caused his death developed. The funeral was held at Elvins last Sunday. Service was conducted by Rev. Humphreys, after which the remains were interred at the cemetery there. Among other relatives, the deceased leaves three brothers.---Farmington News.

NOTE: Frank Harris is listed in the Cemetery Books of St. Francois County as being buried in the Hampton Cemetery at Elvins, Missouri,  without a stone.  However, since obituary is not clear exactly where he was buried, he could possibly be in an unmarked grave in the Layne Cemetery near Elvins which is where, I believe, his brother James Harris and some other Harris relatives are buried.  Based on information in the above obituary, Frank's date of death would have been April 3, 1909.
