MANY PLEAD GUILTY TO GAMBLING CHARGES
IN THE CIRCUIT COURT
Fri. May 13, 1921
The Circuit Court convened at Farmington for the regular May term Monday. The
docket is rather heavy this term. A brief summary of the proceedings thus far
follows:
State vs. Elmer Brown -- Keeping a gambling house: Dismissed by State.
State vs. Marion Koen -- Permitting a gambling device on premises: Motion to quash
confessed, and dismissed by State.
State vs. John Craft -- Sale of whiskey: Dismissed by State upon payment of cost.
State vs. Fred Price -- Assault with intent to kill: Dismissed by State.
State vs. Other Montgomery and Virgil Adams -- Rape: Dismissed by State.
State vs. W. W. Percy and Franklin Morris -- Gambling: Plea of guilty and fine of
$25 imposed in each case.
State vs. Corb Huddleston -- Permitting gambling tables on premises: Dismissed upon
payment of cost.
State vs. Tom Baker -- Permitting gambling tables on premises: Plea of guilty and
fine of $50 assessed.
State vs. D. F. Ball -- Permitting gambling tables on premises: Plea of guilty and
fine of $25 assessed.
State vs. Sam LaRue -- Permitting gambling tables on premises: Dismissed upon
payment of cost.
State vs. John Craft -- Permitting gambling tables on premises: Dismissed upon
payment of cost.
State vs. George Brand -- Keeping a common gaming house: Plea of guilty and fine of
$200 assessed. Upon payment of $100, fine and cost, balance stayed until next
regular term of court.
State vs. E. L. Ketcherside -- Wife abandonment: Dismissed by State upon payment of
cost.
State vs. Lora Robinson -- Murder: Plea of guilty as to manslaughter, sentenced to
two years in penitentiary. Stay of sentence during good behavior.
Lemro Hill vs. Wm. R. Black -- Contest of election for City Marshal at Elvins. Set
for trial June 14th.
John F. Jones vs. Mabel Jones -- Divorce: Decree of divorce granted to plaintiff.
About 25 or 30 other divorce cases have been tried by the court and taken under
advisement. The trial of criminal cases will begin next Monday.
