SGT. BEN STEWART DIES IN INDIA

  halfmast.gif (13652 bytes)

The War Department sent Mr. and Mrs. Ben Roark of Leadington a telegram Saturday, October 13, saying that their nephew, M/Sgt. Bengie Stewart, who was injured in an accident in India, died on October 1. Two weeks previous another telegram revealed he had been injured seriously.

Sgt. Stewart, who had been in India two years flying as an aerial engineer with the ATC, had written shortly before the accident that he would start for home, possibly by plane, sometime in October.

Mr. and Mrs. Roark have raised their two nephews, "Little Ben," as he was known, and his younger brother, Cpl. Jack Stewart, who is in France preparing to leave for this country.
