J. C. Bible (deceased) was a Machinists Mate Third Class SV-6 in the U. S.
Navy during World War II. He was with Company 162 A-6, Camp Peary, Va. He served in the
South Pacific.
The following information was supplied by Wayne Bible:
"My dad was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Leadington and died June 24, 1993 in Green River,
Wyoming.
"He served on the U.S.S. Sabik Transport from Sept. 18, 1944 to June 15, 1946. He was
at the 'return to the Phillipines' in San Pedro Bay, saw combat there and at Dulag beach.
He was in the big kamikaze attack at Okinawa. While there his brother (Vernon Bible), a
Marine on Okinawa, was allowed to come aboard ship for a visit.
