Jesse Britten
Green of Farmington, served as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was in the 547th Bombardment Squadron and the
384th Bombardment Group.
He enlisted
in the Army on Nov. 4, 1942.
He flew out
of Grafton Underwood Base of the 8th Air Forces 384th Bombardment Group as a tail gunner
in a B-17, the "flying fortress." He
was shot down on the tenth mission over Switzerland and was interned in Switzerland for
seven months. He escaped to England and flew
back home to Missouri.
He was
discharged on Oct. 27, 1945.
