JASPER E. THOMURE KILLED IN HAWAIIThe first young man from this county to make the supreme sacrifice in defense of his country was Jasper E. Thomure, 20-year-old son of Mrs. Mary Thomure of Flat River and the late Alex Thomure, who was reported killed in action January 28th in Hawaii. He had enlisted two years ago. Mrs. Thomure received a telegram Sunday morning from the Adjutant General, in which he expressed deep regret from the Secretary of War in reporting the death of her son. The message also stated that a letter would follow. On January 12 Mrs. Thomure received a letter from Jasper in which he stated he was well and told her not to worry. He is survived by his widowed mother and a sister, Mrs. Rosine Thurman of Flat River, and many other relatives and friends who deeply sympathize with Mrs. Thomure in her sorrow. On Sunday, Feb. 15th, at 3 p.m., a memorial service will be held at the Murphy-Long Memorial Church in Farmington and will be conducted by Rev. A. C. Johnson.
