JOHN F. NORTON

John F. Norton died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sam Thompson, in Leadwood, Wednesday, March 13, 1929, at 5 a.m. at the advanced age of 93 years, 2 months and 29 days. Funeral services will be conducted at the Methodist Church in Leadwood today (Friday) March 15, 1929 at 2 p.m., by Rev. Bradsher. Interment will be made in Parkview cemetery.

John F. Norton was born in Surri, England, December 14, 1835. He came to the United States in 1853 and served with the Union army throughout the Civil War. In 1874 he was married to Miss Martha Mullins and to this union, five children were born, four girls and one boy, two dying in infancy, the mother dying in 1883. In 1885 he was married to his sister-in-law, Miss Mary Mullins, and to this union one child was born who died in infancy. Mr. Norton was well known here, having spent his life in this community. For the past 17 years he had made his home in Leadwood.

He leaves to mourn his death, three children, W. W. Norton, of Qulin, Mo.; Mrs. Sam Thompson of Leadwood and Mrs. George McKinney of Elvins, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
