John H.
Johnson was a Staff Sgt. in the 1060th Army Air Force Base Unit when he left the military
in 1945 after serving during World War II.
He was a
radio operator and mechanic, flying combat missions in the Mediterranean and European
Theatre of operation. He was in Naples-Foggia,
Rome-Arno, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns.
Johnson
recieved an Air Medal, a good conduct medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern
Service medal. The Air Medal was issued for
"meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flights in the European
Theatre of Operations."
