Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mahurin of Leadington received a telegram Saturday morning from the War Department, conveying the sad news that their son, Pvt. Omer Louis Mahurin had been killed in France, October 20, 1944. They had received a message on Monday that their son was missing in action since October 15th.
Pvt. Mahurin had been in service since December 2, 1943 and received his training at Camp Wheeler, Ga., and was with 314th Infantry in France. Before entering the army he was employed by the Pepsi Cola Plant of Flat River. He was the son of Louis and Ada Askins Mahurin and was born May 26, 1924 at Desloge, Mo., and at the time of his death was 20 years 4 months 24 days of age. He is survived by two sisters: Margaret (Mrs. Herbert) Pritchett of Bellflower, Calif., and Joyce at home, also three brothers: Marvin of Rivermines; Glendon who is in the U.S. Army in France, and Delmar who is with the Merchant Marine and stationed in San Francisco, Calif.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. He had been a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Desloge since he was 15 years old. His parents recently had a letter from him telling them he was going to church over there and was alright and not to worry about him. The family has the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement.
