"J. C." Montgomery of Park Hills served as a
Storekeeper D First Class (T) USNR aboard the U.S.S. Black Hawk of the United States Navy
in the Europe, Africa, Asiatic and Pacific Areas.
Montgomery joined the Navy as a volunteer three days
after he graduated from high school on May 15, 1942 and was discharged Jan. 3, 1946.
He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart,
Victory Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and he was in seven major battles.
