SGT. NORMAN L. RIGDON

Sgt. Norman L. Rigdon, formerly of Farmington, was reported killed in action on Dec. 25, 1944, in the European Theatre.  He entered service on April 19, 1943, at Jefferson Barracks.

    He was sent to Fort Leonard Wood for three months after which he took an engineering course at the Nebraska State University at Lincoln, Neb., for nine months.  At the end of this period, he was transferred to the U.S. Infantry and sent to Camp Rucker, Ala.

     He went overseas in November 1944 and was in England until the latter part of December.

     VFW Post 5896 in Farmington is named in his memory.
