Paul Limbaugh, of Desloge, served in the First Marine Division of the Marine
Corp during World War II. He was a gunnery
sergeant.
He served from 1943-45
in the South Pacific. He encountered enemy
forces at Cape Gloucester where there were 310 men killed and 1,083 wounded in action, at
Peleiu Island where there were 1,252 killed and 6,526 wounded in action and in Okinawa
Shima where there were 12,520 killed and 36,631 wounded in action.
