Harvey John Reed, Desloge (deceased) was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Force
during World War II - serving with the Headquarters 1333rd Base Unit ATC (Air Transport
Command) in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theatre.
"He was a load adjuster for the C-46's
and C-47's that flew the 'Hump', G. Mabel Reed, Desloge, said of Reed's war experience and
the planes flying over the Himalayas Mountains.
"He was based at Chabus Base in Assam,
India. Assam is the most northeastern province
of India. The planes carried high octane fuel
to the airfield at Kumming, China to supply fuel for the air fight against the Japanese.
"He was one of five sons of the late John and Rosie Reed of Leadwood involved in World War II."
