CARL R. REEVES |

Carl R. Reeves was born on Nov. 4, 1919 on Federal Hill
in Flat River.
He was inducted into the army on Jan 13, 1942. He did his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood and
trained at Ft. Ord in California before being shipped to Camp Pickett for overseas duty.
Reeves was a light-truck driver for Company A of the
10th Engineers but drove anything from trucks to a half-track.
He was in the first wave of the invasion of the
French-Morrocco and then went to Tunisian, Sicilian, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern
France, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He was wounded on May 28, 1944 in Italy and was awarded
the Purple Heart. He was also awarded eight
bronze stars during his tour of duty.
He was discharged from Jefferson Barracks on Aug. 18,
1946 after a three year and nine month tour of duty. His
mustering out pay was $300 and he was given $3.95 travel pay.
Mr. Reeves is now deceased. His information was supplied by John H. Reeves of
Park Hills, his son.
