|
The Secretary of War has asked me to express his deep regret |
Mr. and Mrs. Pinkston also received a letter from Chaplain Thomas S. Clarkson written from the 97th General Hospital and saying he had been with Pfc. Pinkston as he died of "gunshot wounds." Another letter will follow giving details. Pfc. Pinkston had been in the army 20 months, of which 11 had been spent overseas in France and Germany. A brother, Cpl. Clyde Pinkston, just returned home after being discharged on October 11. Pinkston has three brothers and five sisters, besides his parents, who survive. They are: Fred and Curtis of Bonne Terre Rt. 1; Clyde of Farmington; Mrs. Francis Conway, Desloge; Mrs. Henry Rosener of Bonne Terre Rt. 1; and Shirley Pinkston at home. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Published by the LEAD BELT NEWS, Flat River, St. Francois Co. MO, Fri. Oct. 19, 1945.
