ANDREW TYRPAK'S CIDER LOADED WITH ALCOHOL

At the last term of the circuit court Andrew Tyrpak was charged with dispensing cider which had a tendency to knock the props from under all who partook of it in copious draughts. Andrew was apparently much surprised over the effects which his cider produced on his customers and was at a loss to account for it. He stated to the court that he did not know that his cider was loaded. He gave as a possible reason that he had inadvertently allowed the cider which was purchased in barrels to remain out in the sun. The sun, he said, may have caused it to sour and thus become charged in such a manner it made the drunk come. It now develops that the "sun" has played another trick on Andrew.

It has been reported that drunks have recently become numerous in and about Andrew's place of business at Desloge. In order to ascertain the cause a bottle of Andrew's cider was purchased one day last week and a small vial of it sent to St. Louis for a chemical analysis. When the report of the chemist was received the other day it showed that the cider contained almost seven per cent alcohol. Another information charging Andrew with violating the law has been filed by Prosecuting Attorney Matthews. When he is haled into court this time it is quite likely that the court or jury will turn a deaf ear to Andrew's protestations of having no intention to violate the law. Passing the buck to Old Sol worked nicely for Andrew before but this time he will have to dig deeper for an excuse.
