McFarlands Mark 70th Anniversary

Othal and Helen (Aldrich) McFarland recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They married June 24, 1936, in Leadwood, Mo. Reverend Claude Carl performed the ceremony with Dorothy (Aslinger) Dalton and Russell Glore as attendants.

The McFarlands traveled extensively during retirement. They wintered in Mesa, Ariz. for many years, traveled to Hawaii and throughout the U.S. and cruised the Mexican coastline.

Hobbies included golfing, woodworking, quilting and crocheting, horseshoe pitching and camping/fishing with friends and family. They also enjoyed ballroom dancing, square dancing and clogging.

Othal and Helen are members of Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington. They have two children, Brenda, (Mrs. Arnold) Edgar, of Desloge and David, wife Cindi, of Panama City, Flor. They are blessed with seven grandchildren (and spouses) as follows: Randy (Julianne) Edgar, Terry (Anita) Edgar, Danny (Susi) Edgar, Julie (Chris) Hill, Andy (Janet) McFarland, Amy (Joe) Wells and Cathy (Aaron) King, along with nineteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family celebrated this very special occasion with a dinner, lots of family and a fireworks display at their daughter, Brenda's home in Desloge.
