CLASS OF 1893 or 1894  - BONNE TERRE HIGH SCHOOL

The above photo was published in the Press Leader newspaper on Tuesday, September 29, 1922.  The description published with photo read as follows:

"CLASS OF 1893
An extremely early photo of a Bonne Terre High School graduating class is this shot of the 1893 graduates.  Graduates are as follows (front row, from left):  Clara Turley, Fannie Crutcher, Nellie Fuller, Nankie Woodsides, Louise Pearce (Back Row) John "Burt" O'Leary, John David Hobbs, Mr. F. M. Vance, superintendent, and George Clark.  According to a 1918 school manual, Louise Pearce and Nankie Woodsides had returned home to teach at Bonne Terre schools.  George Clark was county assessor in Montrose, Colorado.  Fannie Crutcher was Mrs. A. Armbruster and was living in Los Angeles.  Clara Turley had married Ed Blackwell and lived in Blackwell, Mo.  Nellie Fuller, meanwhile, was Mrs. Horace French and lived in New Castle, Indiana. "

NOTE:  I actually think this picture may be the class of 1894 or a combination of 1893-94.  I have an Alumni Directory which was published in the 1913 Diamond Drill Yearbook.  That 1913 Alumni Directory indicates that Fannie Crutcher was a member of class of 1893 and that all the rest of the students named above were members of class of 1894.  This 1913 directory indicates that John O'Leary and John Hobbs were both deceased.  It also states that Clara Turley was Mrs. George (not Ed) Blackwell, and that Nellie Fuller was Mrs. Jessie (not Horace) French.  Can anyone straighten me out on these discrepancies?  If so, please contact us.  Thanks!
