BUSY WEEK AT THE FLAT RIVER SCHOOLS They're off. They have imbibed all the knowledge which the local school can impart to them. They can now paddle their own canoe into the institutions of higher learning or along the rocky stream that leads to the end of life's journey in the business world. This applies to the happy class of young folks who have this week passed through the High School. They are Kate Dempsey, Ferol Saunders, Kossuth Allen, Sherman Blaylock, Van Ness Topping, Virginia Mabuce, Corbin Newcomb, Ethleen Carmichael, Ralph Tucker, Vida Abshier, Leah Alper, Genevieve Barker, Elmer Sutterfield and Irene Bloom. The Commencement Exercises were held last night. The Salutorian, Leah Alper, and the Valedictorian, Irene Bloom, acquitted themselves creditably. The class address was delivered by Prof. Benson of the Cape Girardeau Normal. Mr. C. R. Pratt, president of the Board of Education, presented the diplomas to the class. |
