November 16, 1873, a meeting of those of the Lutheran faith in Farmington was held in Phillip Lorenz's Tailor Shop on Columbia Street. This was the beginning of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
From November, 1873, until May, 1875, meetings were held at various meeting places, including the old Copenhagen Church and the Methodist Church. May 23, 1875, the first church building was dedicated and this building was replaced by the present church building Sept. 13, 1908, at a cost of $20,000.00. The present structure has a seating capacity of 420.

The congregation also owns its own school building, parsonage and home for principal teacher, all this property having a valuation estimated at $80,000.00.
Conrad Meyer, who celebrated his 83rd birthday in April, is the only living charter member of the church.
Pastors who have served the congregation since the organization of the church are: Revs. C. F. Obermeyer, U. Iben, J. G. Toenjes, A. L. Rohlfing, Fred Klug, F. W. Weidman, Herman Hallerberg, E. M. Frentzel, and the present pastor, Rev. E. C. Pardieck, who has served since April, 1930.
Adult membership of the church is now 365, and the average attendance at all services last year was 275. The Sunday School has an average attendance of 130 children.
Present officers of the congregation are: President, D. F. Giessing; Elders, E. J. Westmeyer, Fred E. Schramm, Jr., E. C. Revoir, Fred Kollmeyer; treasurer, Chas. Braun; financial secretary, George Herbst. The school board includes Wm. Schaefer, George Detring and Frank Kollmeyer. Sunday School superintendent is H. E. Schramm.
