MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS FROM THE BISMARCK
GAZETTE |
Thomas DOWD, who has been living near East St. Louis for the past two years is back in Bismarck for a stay of a month or two and is having his property here improved in the way of paint and needed repairs. Mr. DOWD was a resident of this city for some 20 years. Mrs. W. C. LOOMIS of Columbia, Mo., was here Tuesday enroute to her home after spending a few weeks at the home of her father, Dr. J. A. EATON, of Belgrade. Miss Maud EATON, her sister, accompanied her to Columbia where she will attend the state university. There has been sunshine lingering about the Gazette office ever since a bevy of pretty young ladies took refuge therein from a shower one evening this week. In fact, the foreman hardly knows when dark comes and lamps are not at all necessary. The Baptist Young People's Union was re-organized on July 8th, and new officers elected as follows: Theo. COTTRELL, Pres., Jennie GLORE, V.P., Geo. LINDSEY, Sec. Committees were appointed to prepare programs for each session. The lawn social given by the Woman's Parsonage and Home Mission society of the M. E. church, south, at the residence of Mrs. O. O. TEMPLETON, Tuesday evening, was a very pleasant affair and well attended; the receipts amounted to about $31, and all who attended passed a delightful evening. Miss Leslie FLEMING, who has been making an extended visit to relatives in St. Joseph, is expected to return home today. Her sister, Mrs. Victor SCHEFFELMAYER of St. Joseph, will accompany her and spend some time here with her home folks. It goes without saying that Mr. and Mrs. FLEMING are all smiles in anticipation of the arrival of their children.
