Miss Mae SLOAN was in Flat River Sunday.

Hugh STEEL made a business trip to DeSoto Saturday.

E. S. ROYER was in St. Louis on business Tuesday.

Miss Effie SINCLAIR visited in Elvins a part of last week.

Miss Lora DENTON of Elvins visited Miss Effie SINCLAIR Sunday.

Mrs. Roy VanLEAR of Irondale was in this city Saturday and Sunday.

Found -- On sidewalk near Dr. EATON's office, a door key.  Inquire at Gazette office.

Henry ADKINS was off on a trip to Crawford county for several days during the past week.

Miss Nellie McGREW was a visitor at the home of Miss Pearl TERRILL of Irondale a part of
last week.

Mrs. Hila [?] PIRTLE has returned from Bonneterre, where she was lately called by the 
death of her brother.

Miss Lizzie VanLEAR of Irondale was the guest of Miss Nellie McGREW of this city Saturday
and Sunday.

Editor REAGAN of the Arcadia Valley Enterprise was a pleasant caller at the Gazette office
Monday morning.

Misses Maude CRESWELL of Aptus and Mamie NICHOLSON of Potosi have been visiting their
cousin, Miss Mae SLOAN of this city.

Miss Mae SLOAN and her cousin, Miss Mamie NICHOLSON of Potosi graced the Gazette office
with their presence Saturday afternoon.

Mr. D. M. YOST of St. Louis came down to spend thanksgiving with his sister, Mrs. LaTOUR
and his daughter, Phebe.

Rev. STOWELL, Rector of the Episcopal church, Ironton, accompanied by his wife, was here
Wednesday visiting Bismarck friends.

E. A. GORDON of Columbia, Tenn., is visiting the family of his cousin, Cicero LUCY of 
this city.

On account of the indisposition of the pastor and others interested, the Sunday school
mass meeting was not held last Sabbath evening.  It is intended that the program be 
carried out next Sunday evening.

Chas. HENKE and wife of Kimmswick were here Wednesday visiting at the home of their
son-in-law E. S. ROYER and admiring the young jeweler whose arrival was announced in 
the Gazette some weeks ago.

Quite a number of the friends and well wishers of Elder H. J. LaTOUR gathered at his
home on the 17th inst., that being his 66th birthday.  They presented him with an easy
rocker.  A very pleasant evening was spent by all in conversation and listening to good
music.  It was a complete surprise to the Elder and a gratifying one.

George BISPLINGHOFF expects to spend Saturday and Sunday visiting relatives and friends
in Lutesville, Marble Hill and Whitewater, returning Monday morning.

Charlie BUTLER, train auditor on The Frisco, was at home Monday visiting home folks and
looking remarkably well.  His present run is between St. Louis and Monett, Mo., a distance
of 283 miles.

There was a nice crowd at the skating rink carnival last Saturday night and a deal of
fun was had both by the participants and spectators.  It was a masquerade and fancy dress
affair and well conducted from start to finish.  Miss Mae SLOAN was awarded the prize, 
a Swiss clock, as the best lady skater and Miss Nellie McGREW carried off the prize for
the best costume.  Claud MURPHY won out as best gentleman skater and was presented with
a toilet set, consisting of comb, brush and mirror.  Herbert LUCY took the bun for best
male costume and was given a watch and chain.  Herbert said he didn't need watching, but
he took it.
