SUMMER NUTTING PARTY
Published by THE BISMARCK GAZETTE, Bismarck, St. Francois Co. MO, Fri. Aug. 10, 1906.

On Friday afternoon August 3d, a number of young ladies of Bismarck gave a surprise progressive peanut party in honor of Misses Frances Cary of Kansas City and Edith Hitzman, one of Bismarck's popular young ladies. The supervision of affairs was attended to by Misses Edna Beard and Nettie Friery, whose ability in the management of social functions was manifested by the grand success of this party.

The peanut stock of Bismarck was nearly exhausted for this affair. Not only did they form one of the refreshment dishes but also one of the main amusement features. Tables were procured and the peanuts were thrown upon them. Each young lady armed with a hat pin would thrust it forward to see how quick she could get 20 peanuts impaneled thereon.

From the several reports the game of peanuts was a hotly contested one. The first prize, a large doll, was won by Miss Edna Beard whom we hope will get much enjoyment therefrom. Misses Nettie Friery and Frances Carey were close contestants for the second prize, a large doll buggy, which was won by the former.
