Carl Lupkey, owner of the IGA (Independent Grocery Association) Store at 200 Gumbo St., Elvins, purchased the store from Lester and Wheeler in 1947. It is the oldest IGA store in the district and state of Missouri. The building is about 37x60 and was built by Clarence Moyer. Mr Lupkey resides at 321 Fite St. in Elvins. Published by THE LEAD BELT NEWS, Flat River, St. Francois Co. MO, Wed. Aug. 4, 1965.
