FATAL ACCIDENT AT FEDERAL SHAFT FRIDAY

Albert Newton Kelly, age 36, a contractor employed at No. 4, Federal, was instantly killed, and Albert Gasser, employed as a shoveler, was seriously injured, when a huge mass... [line missing]... last Friday morning. Gasser was removed to a St. Louis hospital on the afternoon train Friday.
Mr. Kelly's remains were removed to Jos. Diermer's undertaking rooms at Elvins, where an inquest was conducted by Coroner Prather. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death.
Mr. Kelly had been in the employ of the Federal Lead Company for about 12 years. He is survived by his wife and seven children, the eldest of whom is 15 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kelly of Desloge. He also leaves two brothers and two sisters, A. W. of Flat River; Ben and Mrs. Sam Ste. Gemme of Desloge; and Mrs. Hilbert Kennedy of Galena, Ill.
The funeral service was conducted Sunday, interment being made at Parkview cemetery.
