DAVID BEQUETTE OF EAST BONNE TERRE KILLED IN MINE

David Bequette of East Bonne Terre was struck on the head in one of the shafts of the St. Joseph Lead Company on last Monday morning and instantly killed. It seems that he and some other men were engaged in removing the rock from a pocket of ore about 80 feet below ground, and putting it in bins to be dumped into cars. Mr. Bequette was standing back in a little recess under where the ore was dumped, and supposed to be out of danger. A rock fell from somewhere, whether from a car or the dump is not known, and struck him on top of the head fracturing the skull, and the impact of the blow also fractured the base of the skull. He only lived a few minutes. Coroner J. H. English held an inquest over the body Monday afternoon and the verdict of the jury was in accordance with the above facts.
