FALLING ROCK KILLS MAN

The first loss of life in a mine accident for sometime occurred at Mine La Motte Friday when falling rock crushed to death the 17 year old son of Josh Young, who was working underground.

The rock fell unexpectedly from above and came near catching several workmen. A mule was killed at the same time as Young.

The accident came as a great shock. Under the new management Mine La Motte has been remarkably free from accidents. Great care has been exercised at all times to insure the safety of workmen and Mr. Thompson and his corps of officials have been often commended for their consideration along this line.

It is not known how the overhead rock became loose and fell without warning.--DEMOCRAT NEWS.
